Topiku employs men and women artisans in West Java, Indonesia. Together with local villages, the social entreprise provides ethical employment, fair wages and health insurance. Topiku is on a mission of working towards long-term economic, environmental, and social solutions for these developing communities.
ABOUT THE PRODUCT
Ethically handmade in the village of Desa Rayahu, Cigondewah, Indonesia, each hat features a logo patch and a strap made from salvaged shoe and belt leathers, a brim recycled from plastic bucket waste, and excess cloth sourced from local garment manufacturers.
Batik is a Indonesian traditional art form of wax-dyeing that has been practiced for centuries. Topiku purchases leftover batik cuts from manufacturers and incorporate them into their hats, in order to promote cultural story-telling patterns that are full of meaning and symbolism.
